Trivia: Cary Grant received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor for his role in this movie. Irene Dunne played opposite Cary Grant as his wife in three movies: The Awful Truth (1937), My Favorite Wife (1940) and Penny Serenade (1941). Director George Stevens was a two-time winner of the Academy Award for Best Director (Giant - 1956 and A Place in the Sun - 1951). He also directed the classic Western movie Shane.
