Trivia: This movie was the 2nd highest grossing film of 1952. It received two Academy Award nominations (Best Cinematography and Best Art Direction) and is based on a short story by Ernest Hemingway. Both Susan Hayward (Helen) and Gregory Peck (Harry Street) were nominated five times for the Best Actor/Actress Academy Award, each winning once. Susan Hayword won for her role in I Want to Live (1959) and Gregory Peck won for his role in To Kill a Mockingbird (1961). Director Henry King was nominated for a total of 9 Academy Awards, for Best Director and Best Picture, but never won. Ava Gardner (Cynthia Green) is ranked #25 on the AFI's list of the greatest American female screen legends, she's sometimes considered the most beautiful actress in the history of Hollywood. She was married three times, her first husband was the actor Mickey Rooney and her third was Frank Sinatra. Leo G. Carroll starred in the 1960s hit TV show, The Man from U.N.C.L.E..
