Trivia: This movie was the 2nd highest grossing film of 1952. It received two Academy Award nominations (Best Cinematography and Best Art Direction) and is based on a short story by Ernest Hemingway. Both Susan Hayward (Helen) and Gregory Peck (Harry Street) were nominated five times for the Best Actor/Actress Academy Award, each winning once. Susan Hayword won for her role in I Want to Live (1959) and Gregory Peck won for his role in To Kill a Mockingbird (1961). Director Henry King was nominated for a total of 9 Academy Awards, for Best Director and Best Picture, but never won. Ava Gardner (Cynthia Green) is ranked #25 on the AFI's list of the greatest American female screen legends, she's sometimes considered the most beautiful actress in the history of Hollywood.
