My Favorite Brunette (1947)

Director: Elliot Nugent
Actors: Bob Hope, Dorothy Lamour, Peter Lorre, Lon Chaney Jr., John Hoyt
Runtime: 87 min.

As his execution looms, a death row inmate in San Quentin (Bob Hope) tells reporters how he ended up there. While looking after the office of his private detective neighbor, he was approached by a mysterious baroness (Dorothy Lamour) asking for help finding her husband.

Trivia: Dorothy Lamour's character shows a brief interest in Bing Crosby's character before turning her attention back to Bob Hope's Ronnie. This is a reference to Hope and Crosby's "Road to..." films, in which Crosby never quite lands the girl (often played by Lamour).
