During a ski trip to the Swiss Alps, American Reggie Lampert (Audrey Hepburn) meets the charming Peter Joshua (Cary Grant). Upon returning to Paris she plans to ask her husband Charles for a divorce, but discovers that he's been murdered. Subsequently she is interviewed by the CIA who informs her that her husband was an operative during World War II.

Trivia: Audrey Hepburn was 32 years old and Cary Grant 59 when the film was made, so Grant requested that the script be changed to show her pursuing him. The musical score by Johnny Mercer and Henry Mancini was nominated for an Academy Award. Audrey Hepburn won the BAFTA award for best actress for her role in the film. Grant and Hepburn both received Golden Globe nominations for Best Motion Picture Actor in a Musical/Comedy and Best Motion Picture Actress in Musical/Comedy.
